Founded in 1997 by former Navy SEAL officers, Shield Security began as a small time security firm which provided services to various government agencies including the CIA. Today Shield Security is one of the biggest private security companies worldwide and employs soldiers for offshore security work. Their web site advertises their ability to provide "personnel from the best militaries throughout the world" for worldwide deployment. Tasks can be from very small scale up to major operations to "facilitate large scale stability operations requiring large numbers of people to assist in securing a region". They get a job done, but they're known to be trigger happy. Fortunately for them their management maintains good contacts with the government and almost always manages to evade the law.
Shield Security is also one of the few private security firms that can afford to manufacture & develope their own weapons. In a collaborative effort with the U.S. Government they develope handguns, military rifles & submachine guns. Throughout the world their weapons are highly regarded for high reliability, increased muzzle velocity and barrel life.
